Beeline Personnel are delighted to be recruiting for a well respected rehabilitation service based in Gobowen, Nr Oswestry.

Working as a Kitchen Assistant, you will be responsible for preparing ingredients and cooking dishes from their menu. You will be responsible for following health and safety guidelines and regulations, as well as being able to accurately follow recipes, produce meals in a timely manner, and have hands-on experience with all types of kitchen equipment.

The working hours for this role will be a 4 day working on shift pattern (07:30-17:30) followed by 3 days rest before the pattern repeats. The working week is set to 35 hours.

Due to the nature of the clients who reside onsite, it is essential that applicants have an empathetic, calm and therapeutic approach to providing the high level of service expected of our client. This is really important as all staff working onsite have a desire to make a difference to people lives and approach their work, no matter what department they work in with kindness and empathy.

Main Duties:

  • Setting up the kitchen and preparing ingredients
  • Cooking food promptly
  • Delegating tasks to other kitchen staff
  • Managing staff so as to ensure shifts are fully staffed
  • Ensuring staff have the training and skills required to carry out their role
  • Ensuring ingredients and fresh and in-date
  • Complying with health and safety policies
  • Following recipes and creating new dishes
  • Adhere to existing working practices, methods and procedures. Undertake relevant training and development activities and respond positively to new and alternative systems.
  • To maintain care skills at current level and to undertake such training and development as may be required
  • Take responsibility for the health and safety of oneself and others in the workplace, particularly in respect of:

o Accident reporting

o Lone working procedures

o Safeguarding procedures

  • Kitchen hygiene
  • Food preparation
  • Risk management- ensuring you use chemicals in accordance with our COSHH policy.

Key skills

  • Previous experience as a cook or chef
  • Culinary diploma
  • Ability to manage a team
  • Knowledge of kitchen equipment and ingredients
  • Proficiency in following hygiene regulations
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure
